Happenings...

Things are moving FAST.  And things are CRAZY.

We have been having to make some final decisions on lighting, plumbing fixtures, mirrors, cabinets and whether I even have enough time to shower some days.  Here are some pictures of the house in the past two weeks....

We have windows and a roof!

The land still needs to be filled but they had to wait for the plumber to finish installing the pipes.

This will be the girls playroom.  I am obsessed with the bay windows.  I wonder how often I'll be cleaning hand prints and nose prints off them?

This is looking into the kitchen from the family room.  Our kitchen table will be in front of the slider by the half wall.

This is looking from the kitchen into the family room.  I can't wait for my built-ins.  I have dreams about them.  The will be on both sides of the fireplace and come out 12 inches or so.  Then we'll actually have them build the fireplace out 6 inches (it's supposed to be flush in the plans) and then mount the TV above the fireplace.

I didn't put pictures of any of the bedrooms but I did want to post this picture which is the extra space through our master closet.  Liv is in the closet part and Dave and Sophie are in the extra space part.  We had them put a full size window and we'll eventually finish it and give it to Dave for an office.

And here is a shot of the basement.  The floor isn't poured yet because the plumbing will be in it.  Lot of light down there even though it's a basement.

We are in electric and plumbing land right now.  The siding is supposed to be put up any day.  It's crazy how fast things are going!  Stay tuned...

House update...

I know I said before...but these framers don't mess around!  Here is what the house looked like last week when I took the girls on Wednesday.  I felt like a complete creep standing there taking pictures.  So I don't have too many.  The girls and I could have stayed there all day watching everything.

The 2nd floor was put on. There is even a stair case in the entryway already.

They were in the process of filling the left yard and in the garage as well.

The girls loved watching the truck dump the dirt and then the tractor pushing it all around.

And here is Liv taking a picture. I think she's an aspiring photographer....

And then here is what I looked like on Sunday!  We have a complete 2nd floor and a partial garage.

I wish I could have recorded Olivia's first time going in.  She said "Mommy...Daddy!!!!  Thank you for putting a princess staircase in our new house!!!"  Ha!

She went up and down those stairs the entire time we were there.  She had a blast...I had a heart attack.  Those stairs are scary with no railings!

This is looking from the family room into the kitchen.  Some walls still need to go up (the far side is missing the 1/2 bath wall).

Olivia picked out her room...

And then wanted to check out the distance to our room...

I can't even believe how much progress has been made!  Our builder stopped by when we were there and told us that they plan on finishing the garage in the next week, putting in the basement and garage floors, and possibly putting in the windows and starting the siding.

Stay tuned...

The UPS man probably hates me...

This is my stock pile of lights.  I've labeled everything and even assembled a few out of my crazieness the kindness of my heart.

I ended up finding two of these light for our 1/2 bath through an electric wholesale store.

And....here are our outside lights!  I LOVE THESE.

I just have to get ceiling fans and the girls bathroom light and I can check lighting off my list.

House progress

It's like Christmas morning every time I turn down our new street.  These framers don't mess around.

They started working on Monday of last week.  I don't have pictures of that day because I was working.  But...I got to stalk the house the rest of the week.  So here is what it looked like on Wednesday...

Here is the progress on Thursday...

And here is how it looked on Sunday...

This week they are scheduled to finish the fill around the house and in the garage.  Then the framers will continue to frame the house and start framing the garage.

It's crazy to see our new house taking shape!  Crazy is also what they must think of me every time I show up there with my camera and children....

Electrical mumbo jumbo

As I mentioned before, the builders are allowing my FIL (father-in-law) to do the electrical.  I have been having a grand old time buying light fixtures galore...

But last night it was time to figure out the actual plan of attack.  Since our building date is so far behind, my FIL is going to probably run into an issue with his availability to do the work.  He's a teacher and has the summers off but with the new time frame...we think it's going to run into the last week of his vacation or the begining of the school year.

So last night, I sat down with him and went through every room in the house and ended up with plans that now look like this:

I will be shocked if either of us even know what was drawn last night...never mind a month from now.  Wiring a house is no joke.  Picking our where you want all the lights and light switches is no joke either.  I really want something simple not not super complicated.  But...that's not really what ended up happening.  Let's just say I'm getting rececessed lights in every room, ceiling fans in all the bedrooms with speed switches on the walls (instead of chains), closet lights, under the counter lights, flood lights, dimmers on every switch, a plug in the kitchen with a USB port, extra outlets in the bathrooms, AND all of the front outlets by every window will be on a timer so when Christmas rolls around...my lights will conveniently turn on and off for me.  Super simple...right???

Busy...

The past two weeks have been jammed packed with so many things. Judging by the 19 views I received on Thursday...you guys missed me.  Ha!

We've been busy with work, driving, playdates, driving, camping, driving, visiting the lake house, driving, ohh and building a new house.  Can you tell that we do a TON of driving and I hate it?  Here's a little recap of the past week...

We went camping for the night with my parents right on Horseneck Beach in Westport...

Liv roasted her first marshmello by herself on the fire...

We caught some killer waves...

We made some sweet rock castles...

We splashed in the waves (while looking over our shoulders for sharks)...

We checked little mouths for rocks every two seconds...

Then we headed to Dave's parents lake house up in NH...

We did a little furniture rearranging...

We took our buddy for his first golf cart ride...

So that is what we've been doing the past week!  I will have more on the house progress next...
